Mullewa to Launch Everlasting Cultural Trails, Local Artist Studio

The Shire of Mullewa will officially open the Mullewa Everlasting Cultural Trails and Moorheads Local Artist Studio on Friday, August 29.

About the Trails

The Everlasting Cultural Trails are a new initiative developed by the Shire of Mullewa to promote the diverse range of tourism attractions within the area.

Visitors can explore the breathtaking hinterland or fascinating townscape of Mullewa, by selecting an Everlasting Cultural Trail to wander at their leisure.

The Bushland Trail highlights the esteemed qualities of the area with its rich natural features, and provides panoramic views across the bushland, into Mullewa.

The Rail-Loop Trail showcases Mullewa’s once-expansive rail precinct, a hub for trains travelling between Geraldton and Perth via Morawa, to the outback town of Wiluna.

The Town Heritage Walk allows visitors to experience the history of people and place on a leisurely stroll about town.

The Wildflower Walk showcases the stunning flora that brings visitors from far and wide to see. The bush is alive in late winter with dramatic carpets of pink, yellow and white Everlastings.

The Everlasting Cultural Trails will be officially opened by Josephine Docherty at the information bay on Gray Street at 3.00pm.

Guided walks of the Trails will also be available to visitors on the morning of the 29th (see invitation and program of events attached).

About the Moorheads Building

Referred to as Ngyrlu Mulla-Mugah, meaning Our Place, Our Home, the Moorheads local artist studio was created to give the women of Mullewa a place in which to paint, run programs and facilitate general meetings.

Recognised as a great community asset, stimulating focus and purpose, the studio also offers women a place in which to be a part of the community and talk about any problems they feel are apparent within family groups in the town, working to resolving issues.

The newly renovated building will host an exhibition of local artists’ work, many of whom have been working long hours to prepare for the show.

Christine Collard, Coordinator of the Mullewa Womens Indigenous Group (MWIG), and Wendy Jackamarra, Chairperson of the MWIG will officially open the Moorheads building at 2.00pm.

Devonshire Tea will be available to attendees of the exhibition, located on Jose Street.
