Council

The Mullewa Shire Council consists of a President who is elected every two years from the nine Councillors who are elected for four year terms to fill one position on the West, four on the Central Ward and two on the East and South Wards.

Elections are held biennially on the first Saturday in October and are subject to electoral procedures as governed by the Local Government Act.

Voting at Council elections is not compulsory, however participation by residents in elections is vital to the effectiveness of local government. Residents not included on the State Electoral Roll should contact the Australian Electoral Commission.

Council Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month, except for the month of January, and are open to the public. Minutes of Council meetings are available at the Administration Office.

An Annual Meeting of Electors is held each financial year, a notice of which is published in the local press and Geraldton Guardian.
